Title
Compiler construction: a course outline and project description
Abstract
A course in compiler construction will allow students to examine how a high-level language program is accepted as input and translated into assembly language or machine language so that the central processing unit receives instructions which it understands and can execute. This paper outlines the compiler construction course as it is taught at West Chester University, with emphasis on the compiler writing project assigned to the students.
