Creating Software Environments on an M-Node Beowulf Cluster to Execute Discrete-Event Simulations |
Abstract | ||
---|---|---|
A tool that creates software environments that distribute the replications of a discrete-event simulation over several processors that are contained within the cluster-nodes of a Beowulf is presented. The premise is that the concurrent execution of the replications by several processors will reduce the total simulation time of a very long simulation. However, since most simulation applications are designed to run on a single processor, new problems are introduced that must be addressed when such simulation applications are ported to the parallel platform of a Beowulf. |
