With the rapid growth of the electronic-book (e-book) market, various types of e-book readers, such as dedicated e-book reading devices and e-book reader applications, have been released. However, the user interfaces of these e-book readers are highly diverse, which is becoming a major problem regarding usability. In this paper, user preferences for the menu composition of an e-book reader are analyzed via a survey, and an ideal menu composition for e-book readers is proposed on the basis of the survey results. The functional icons used in the menus of e-book readers are also analyzed, to investigate the necessity to standardize these icons. |
