Title
Link quality assessment in mobile satellite communication systems.
Abstract
This paper presents a simulation tool aimed to assess the relation between the link quality and the overall capacity on a MISS (Mobile Satellite System). This tool is particularly appropriated to compare different radio interfaces and to estimate the applicability of the UTRA radio interface in future satellite systems. Moreover, it permits the analysis of innovative radio resource management techniques. All the models included in the simulator, namely spotbeam projection on the Earth, mutibeam antennas and radio propagation models are also presented.
