Title
Composing and Deploying Distributed Applications Using a Semantic Service Discovery Mechanism
Abstract
We present semantic approach to discovering, composing and deploying distributed service-based applications. This approach allows users to ad- vertise services on the network in agent form as well as compose meta-agents from existing agents. Agent advertisement is done through a rich RDF representation, enabling a semantic agent discov- ery layer that sits on top of traditional middle- ware. We present our prototype system that has been implemented in Java using Jini as the mid- dleware. One hundred multimedia agents provid- ing imagery, geospatial, video, and textual process- ing are currently implemented in the prototype sys- tem. We compare our service discovery mecha- nism to Jini and discuss results.
