A preoperative planning system is very useful for the preparation of operations. Although, without a good means of transferring the planning to the operation theatre, it is useless. This paper focuses on interventions performed on patients suffering from craniosynostosis. It describes the use of very cheap, but reliable templates to transfer the position of osteotomy lines from a computer made planning to the real time intervention. Three clinical cases prove the usefulness of this method. (C) 2003 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. |
