Title
Investigating spatial and temporal characteristics of harmful Algal Bloom areas in the East China Sea using a fast and flexible method
Abstract
In the past three decades, Harmful Algal Bloom events have become more intense, frequent and widespread in the East China Sea driven by climate change and human impact. It appeared to be linked to heavy pollution loading and significantly reduced freshwater input due to drought or land-use change activities. Algal Bloom occurring can make Chlorophyll-a concentration abnormity, which as an very important index of marine primary production can be derived by satellite data. This paper focus on analysis the spatial and temporal patterns of Chlorophyll-a concentration based on NASA's GES-DISC Interactive Online Visualization and Analysis Infrastructure. The results suggested that significant new insight can be gained by this fast and flexible method, particularly if it was combined with other types of remotely sensed and in situ data.
