The Web services technology provides the underpinnings toa new business opportunity, i.e., the possibility of providingvalue-added Web services. However, building value-addedservices on this new environment is not a trivial task. Dueto many singularities of the Web service environment, suchas the inherent structural and behavioral heterogeneity ofWeb services, in addition to their strict autonomy, it is notpossible to rely on the current models and solutions tobuild and coordinate compositions of Web services. In thiswork, we present a Mediation Service layer within anarchitecture, named WebTransact, which provides thenecessary mechanisms for homogenizing heterogeneousWeb services. Such architecture separates the task ofaggregating and homogenizing heterogeneous Webservices from the task of specifying transaction interactionpatterns, thus providing a new general mechanism to dealwith the complexity introduced by a large number of Webservices |
