In this paper, a metadata model is analyzed to describe the digitized digital folklore collection of the Department of Greek Studies in the University of Athens. Folklore collection consists of different kinds of digitized material and requires a specialized data schema to describe its peculiarities. The collection big size and material variety results in representing the collection as a hierarchical structure, according to the type of objects, the corresponding chronological period and geographic region. The main goal is to preserve and popularize to all kinds of users the precious information regarding cultural collection data. For this purpose a metadata model is developed that enables efficient navigation to the notebooks sub-collection, as well as meaningful information retrieval to the collection objects. |
