Title
Extension of hierarchical mobility management with multicasting tunnels in heterogeneous wireless networks
Abstract
In this article, the IETF standard HMIPv6 has been extended where multicasting tunnels between an access router and the mobile node are dynamically constructed to support guaranteed QoS. The detailed signaling procedure for the extension of HMIPv6 has been designed and NS2 simulation has been done for performance evaluation. The simulation results show that, comparing with other standard IP mobility management protocols such as MIPv6 and HMIPv6, the proposed mechanism demonstrates better performance for the TCP application in terms of handover latency and throughput for fast moving mobile node.
