Title
The GINA Interaction Recorder
Abstract
In the GINA application framework we have implemented the interaction recorder, a generic history facility that stores an object for each command submitted. A small set of polymorphic operations on these objects must be implemented for each application-specific command, including the command effect and a restoring operation to allow undo and redo. Undo and redo of arbitrary commands in the history is possible if applicability is checked in the current state. We have implemented animated replay of the history through interactor objects associated with each command. Furthermore, commands can be annotated with audio information and stored together with a document. This allows a generic implementation of a help and training facility. Further applications of the history mechanism are planned.
