The optical music recognition problem has beenaddressed in several manners obtaining suitable resultsonly when simple music constructs are processed.Themost critical phase of the optical music recognitionprocess is the first analysis of the image sheet. The firstanalysis consists of segmenting the acquired sheet insmaller parts. These may be processed to recognize thebasic symbols. In this paper, the segmentation module ofO3MR system (Object Oriented Optical MusicRecognition) system is presented. The proposedapproach is based on the adoption of projections for theextraction of basic symbols that constitute graphicelement of the music notation.A set of examples is alsoincluded in the paper. |
