This paper is an introduction to simulation, especially covering the application of this methodology to production. At first, general aspects of simulation are presented, giving an survey of basic concepts and terminology. This is followed by a description of the main steps performed in a simulation study. Thereafter, a survey of currently available software is given. Finally, the application of simulation in different areas of production and manufacturing logistics is presented. |
