Title
A Sub-Spectrum Suppressed Transmission Scheme For Highly Efficient Satellite Communications
Abstract
In this paper, we propose a sub-spectrum suppressed transmission scheme for a single carrier modulation signal to increase the frequency utilization efficiency of satellite communication systems. A single-carrier modulated signal is directly divided into sub-spectra using a filter bank, and one of the sub-spectra is suppressed at the transmitter in order to reduce the total occupied bandwidth. We also propose an iterative equalization process using a sub-spectrum replica to improve the degradation due to inter-symbol interference caused by sub-spectrum suppression. By computer simulations, we show the reception performance improvement and the increase of the frequency utilization efficiency.
