Title
Public-Key-Based High-Speed Payment (Electronic Money) System Using Contact-Less Smart Cards
Abstract
Contact-less smart cards are very convenient in use and are expected to expand the application fields of electronic money; they will accelerate the penetration of all electronic money services. Contactless smart cards have limited capabilities and so it is difficult for them to perform complicated operations such as public key cryptographic processing. Moreover, the usage style of contact-less smart cards makes it difficult to guarantee the consistency of the transaction. To answer these questions, we have developed a high-speed payment processing system. Based on the elliptic curve digital signature algorithm, the proposed system reduces the processing time and the amount of data that needs to be transmitted. We describe a typical implementation that uses pre-computation. Also described here is a transaction mechanism that ensures processing consistency in the face of the unstable operating environment of contact-less smart cards.
