Internet growth and activity has been increasing almostexponentially over the last decade. Today, millions ofpeople all over the world use the Internet for a variety ofactivities, such as email and instant messaging, shopping, trading stocks, research, and many others. Of these, oneof the fastest growing is online surveys. Because of itsglobal reach, the Internet is the perfect medium forconducting surveys. In recent decades surveys havebecome a widely used tool to measure individuals'opinions, preferences and behavior. A web-based surveyis a very effective way to reach large numbers of peoplefrom all over the world compared to paper, in-person, ortelephone surveys. A survey authoring tool called OnQmakes the creation and deployment of web surveysintuitive and efficient, providing tools and features thatcommercially available survey authoring tools do not. This paper gives an overview of OnQ, provides detailsabout each of its four main components, and describescurrently active surveys produced by OnQ. The paperconcludes with a summary and a view of plans for thefuture. |
