The Design of Improved Motion Estimation Algorithm for H.264 Based on GA
Abstract
An improved algorithm of motion estimation is proposed based on H.264 coding standard in this paper. The basic principle of motion estimated is analyzed at first. Then the improved algorithm is designed. This algorithm makes improvements in selection of muti-reference frames, initial point of searching and process of searching. Especially an improved genetic algorithm is adopted in process of searching, and it is of important role in speeding up the motion estimation procedure. The experimental results show that compared with other fast search approaches, such as the full searching and the three steps searching, this algorithm improves coding efficiency and keeps excellent image quality. Moreover, it also has good stability. As a consequence, this improved algorithm has great practical utility.
