Title
Mobile technology for games and augmented reality
Abstract
We will host a discussion and demonstration on how to utilize the Android computing platform and the newly-available Qualcomm Augmented Reality tools to develop engaging experiences for students. Both Jon & Jeff have worked with mobile augmented reality and are currently building video tutorials on these technologies. Mobile computing is pervasive among our students' experiences, and we would do well to reach them where they live to convey important computing concepts. The mobile platform provides an excellent opportunity to discuss resource management (such as power and memory) and topics such as operating systems and architecture that on a desktop or in a textbook are less motivating to students.
