Providing relevant data to the production management system is a fundamental prerequisite to efficient decision-making. The decision support systems collect, format and deliver data to various decision levels. This is a challenge for information systems. The situation is more complex in the case of network of firms. This article deals with data aggregation for the production planning function in firms. This function is always run according to several detail levels and its results influence directly all other activities. The exploratory results presented here attempt to provide a formal framework for aggregating data in production planning problems. Especially, these results highlight several algebraic properties of data aggregation procedures which are illustrated through an application to the evolution of resource availability rate. |
