Title
Video Communication Using A Differential Octree Technique
Abstract
We introduce a new scalable video encoding technique that is geared to support video communication over unreliable channels. Our technique is based on using Quadtrees and Octrees in encoding as well as vector quantization for compression. A differential technique is used where one frame gets encoded independently and the following set of frames is encoded differentially from that frame using an octree technique. We demonstrate the technique's scalability, robustness and time-efficiency in comparison to other known video encoding techniques.
