Title
Proteome Analysis: Application of InterPro and CluSTr for the Functional Classification of Proteins in Whole Genomes
Abstract
The genome sequencing projects are providing a vast amount of sequence data that remains largely unexploited. Proteome analysis has become indispensable and complementary to genomic analysis. With access to whole genome sequences from various organisms and with the imminent completion of many more, the SWISS-PROT group at EBI has developed a research-oriented initiative that utilises many of the existing resources and provides comparative analysis of the predicted protein coding sequences of all complete genomes. The two main projects used in this proteome analysis effort, InterPro and CluSTr, give a new perspective on domain structure and function, gene duplication and protein families in different genomes. The proteome analysis pages are accessible at http://www.ebi.ac.uk/proteome/. Questions can be mailed to
