Boosting the Performance of Workstations through WARPmemory
Abstract
this paper, we have described a device to accelerate the execution of parallelprograms on a network of workstations. It provides physically shared memory,avoiding the drawbacks of distributed shared memory (DSM) machines. Thedesign of the serially multiported memory is conceptually simple, yet powerful.We provide a standard programming interface. Finally, the prototype exploits theexisting functionality of PVM on a local network, allowing the quick realizationof a running system....
