As new technologies proliferate, CIOs increasingly face the challenge of selecting which to invest in and how to do so successfully. This article focuses on how to make informed choices by separating signal from noise when evaluating emerging technologies. It identifies three non-obvious sources of noise that distort the disruptive potential of an emerging technology, and describes three frameworks for assessing the potential disruptiveness of an emerging technology.(1) |
