The primary objective of the European ESPRIT project EUROPORT2 (EP 8586) is to increase awareness of and confidence in parallel
high-performance computing (HPC) for commercial and industrial applications. This objective will be achieved by porting large
serial commercial and in-house codes to parallel architectures so as to enable significant industrial impact. This paper presents
the objectives and structure of EUROPORT2, and the progress to date.
