Image quality of print is dependent on the paper characteristic. The modulation transfer function (MTF) is usually applied to represent the light-scattering phenomenon for the analysis of the imaging characteristics of print and paper. In this paper, we study a new method for measuring MTF of paper——moiré technique, application of the technique is quite simple, besides does not require a high sensitive intensity detector and a very narrow slit for transmission scanning. Then we use a MTF-based spatial-spectral halftone predication model in order to analyze the relationship between paper-MTF and reflectance (or transmittance). Therefore, we can modify the paper characteristics such as optical dot gain. |
