DTV architecture design for multimedia network environments
Abstract
This paper proposes a novel architecture for DTV (digital TV) using middleware based on UPnP™ (universal plug and play) and DLNA (digital living networking alliance) to enable interoperability with a variety of digital CE devices supporting content of diverse formats transported over IP (Internet protocol) and IEEE 1394. Additionally, content metadata, capability discovery, and format transcoding features are included to match the device capabilities with media formats to enable rendering of content on diverse digital CE devices interacting with the DTV.
