Title
Administering Network Behaviour Through Assessment of Performance Indicators
Abstract
Performance models and indicators are used for the evaluation of network performance. They are relatively straight-forward in the case of homogeneous networks. In fact, international standards already provide precise definitions for the indicators semantics concerning the different networks. However, these definitions are not completed yet to support interconnected heterogeneous networks. Several networks have not been completely defined (e.g. Ethernet, ATM). Moreover, there is no correlation between the performance indicators defined for each domain. This paper presents an approach for the management of interconnected networks performance, based on the assessment of global end-to-end performance indicators.
