Title
Workshop on cybersecurity: security and privacy in the 21st century
Abstract
With the proliferation of small powerful sensing and communication devices in our society, the vision of smart space where a person is "plugged in" to the Internet has become close to reality. These smart environments have a large number of applications, such as providing better quality of life, extended and emergency health care, and support for the elderly, to list a few. This paradigm has brought new opportunities, challenges and threats to the way we run our daily activities. Of interest are the security and privacy challenges, with some of the daunting questions being: how can we protect the data sensed and communicated through these sensing and carry on devices? Does traditional security mechanisms work with the new paradigm? What are the privacy implications when using these device? Where is the data shared with these devices stored? Etc.
