Title
Information modelling for service provisioning - the DESSERT experience
Abstract
In this paper we propose a new approach to modelling requirements and network capabilities for use in service provisioning. This will ease the automation of the translation from requirements to capabilities and also make it possible to model high level and low level details while providing a more flexible and more complete method of modelling characteristics such as network connectivity and topology. It also makes it easier to model quality of service parameters. This paper also looks at a number of different information models which have been developed within various problem domains related to network management and highlights the important similarities. Furthermore it considers other information models developed for service provisioning and compares their approaches, particularly to the mapping of network requirements onto network capabilities.
