Title
Participatory Design at a Radio Station
Abstract
We address design of computer supportfor work and its coordination at the DanishBroadcasting Corporation. We propose design solutionsbased upon participatory design techniques andethnographically inspired analysis within a full scaledesign project. The project exemplifies an ambitious, yet realistic, design practice, that provides a soundbasis for organisational decision making and fortechnical and organizational development andimplementation. We focus on cooperative aspects withinand among the editorial units, and between editorialunits and the editorial board. We discuss technicaland organisational aspects of the design, seen inlight of recent CSCW concepts, including coordinationand computational coordination mechanisms, technologies of accountability, and workflow fromwithin and without.
