Title
A framework for QOS provisioning in three layer MIPV6 architecture by RSVP extension
Abstract
The goal of mobile IP based architecture is to minimize handoff latency, signaling overhead and tunneling cost. Many of the researches claim that hierarchical arrangement of anchor agents offer a suitable value for these parameters to mobile users. Simultaneously, for the world wide acceptance of the architecture, it must offer service guarantee to end users. Quality of service (QoS) provisioning is difficult but a task of high importance in communication network. Furthermore, channel characteristics of wireless media and mobile behavior of users make QoS enhancement more complicated in IP based mobile network. The Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) has gained its popularity as a signaling protocol in IP based network for offering guaranteed service to end users. Although RSVP is primarily designed as a receiver initiated protocol for wired network, it is extended to wireless environment by making few minor changes and adding new message types and reservation models. In this paper, a framework is proposed by extending RSVP to give preferential treatment to a certain type of traffic in a three-layer IPv6 based mobile network to satisfy end users.
