Any organization that moves cargo and people needs to decide how many platforms it needs to accomplish its varied tasks. In this paper, we develop the Stochastic Fleet Estimation or SaFE Model which estimates the size and composition of the average required fleet of vehicles or platforms. The SaFE model is a Monte Carlo-based simulation that uses task frequency, duration and task-assigned platform information to determine what fleet can accomplish these tasks over the given time period. Results based on a simulated data set are presented and analysed. |
