We have presented a new network called the Wide Area Ubiquitous Network (WAUN) for ubiquitously networking small devices such as sensors and actuators through a long low-bit-rate wireless link. We set the WAUN basic design requirements to be "low cost, low power consumption, and supporting low-end terminals" and started R&D of the WAUN. Our efforts toward R&D of the WAUN include various areas such as network systems, wireless systems, wireless terminals, and applications. This paper describes them. |
