The always-increasing complexity of network and system management has lead to some changes in the organisation of management: the centralised solution, where a unique management platform was looking after an entire corporation is no longer sufficient, and we moved to a more distributed approach. Nowadays, this approach uses two or three management levels, mainly management agents (SNMP agents) and management station, but we forecast this distribution trend to continue, driving to a fully distributed solution. We call this solution intelligent agent-based management. |
