Architecture description languages (ADLs) are used tospecify and analyze the composition of a software system.Traditionally, ADLS are used at the specification and designstages of the software development lifecycle. Recentdevelopments in component-based middleware has seen therise of configuration-oriented software development. In thispaper, we bring ADL ideas to the world of component configuration,in the context of Microsoft's COM+ and .NET.We describe an approach to and tool for configuration of.NET components in the COM+ middleware. We considerconfigurations of systems built using the .NET/COM+ middleware, and architectural descriptions designed using theUML Profile for Enterprise Distributed Object Computing(EDOC). |
