Title
SCTP based protocol architecture for multihomed thin client
Abstract
In a thin client computing architecture, application processing is delegated to a remote server rather than running the application locally. User input is forwarded to the server, and the rendered images are relayed through a dedicated remote display protocol to the user's device. Thin-client computing offers the promise of easier-to-maintain computational services with reduced total cost of ownership. There are different types of thin client protocol. These protocols are almost independent of the lower layer protocol stack. But most of the thin client protocols used currently runs on TCP as the transport protocol. For this reason, instead of having multiple interfaces on the thin client device it cannot use the multihoming technology. By using SCTP as the transport protocol multihoming and multi-streaming options can be enabled that may enhance the communication of the thin client. But the existing thin client protocols don't have the proper interface to communicate over SCTP. So, in this paper we propose the architecture of a novel SCTP based thin client protocol architecture. It will help using the available networking interfaces on the thin client by multihoming technique. Our proposed protocol architecture ensures better user satisfaction and cost effective service provisioning since it uses multiple network interfaces concurrently.
