Advances in smart sensors, communication technologies and embedded computing allow to have an interaction between digital and physical worlds. This paper presents an architecture of combining ZigBee with Metropolitan broadband access networks in order to build an architecture for monitoring and control in a municipal scale. A prototype alarm system was implemented based on this architecture as a proof of concept. However there is a wider range of applications that can be designed using this architecture to provide reliable services for government and communities. |
