Title
Smoothing Of Piecewise Linear Splines And The Application To Piecewise Linear Fat Splines
Abstract
A piecewise linear fat spline is defined. This spline is smoothed via a smoothing process involving higher-order splines. Particular attention is given to fat splines of second and third degree and some approximations to these are discussed. Conditions are developed to ensure that these splines have the same convexity properties as the original data. Two numerical examples are provided. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
