Title
Predicting carbon emission in an environment management system
Abstract
In this paper, we explore how sustainability management in an organization can be augmented with use of business intelligence (BI) systems. The important role BI has in helping organizations implement and supervise efforts towards sustainable practice is emphasized. Particularly the information planning phase in a BI project can provide a systematic way of defining relevant information in order to integrate it in reporting activities, and analysis of the data. We propose a replicable predictive model that seeks to support the process of analysis of environmental indicators in the implementation of an organizational strategy for sustainability. A case study based on a manufacturing company of packaging material is used to demonstrate our model on an Environment Management System.
