Title
A Fair Scheduling For Ieee 802.11 Wireless Lan
Abstract
With increasing demand of multimedia applications, fairness and bandwidth allocation are important issues in QoS when accessing a shared wireless channel like wireless LANs. The IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol was designed without any significant QoS support. This makes it unsuitable for high bandwidth and throughput applications. In the last few years, considerable efforts have been made to provide scheduling algorithms that use fair queueing mechanisms to achieve the QoS provision in the IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol. In this paper, we propose a new distributed fair scheduling algorithm based on distributed fair scheduling (DFS) proposed by Vaidya el al. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme gives better performance over the DFS from the throughput and fairness viewpoints.
