In this paper, an error resilience video coding scheme is proposed based on the redundant slice feature in H.264/AVC. With the proposed scheme, the source redundancy in a coded bitstream can be adjusted flexibly according to changing channel conditions such as available bandwidth and data loss rate, without the need of complicated re-encoding or transcoding. To achieve good resilience performance, an algorithm is further developed to select a proper set of redundant slices and provide unequal error protection gain. Experimental results demonstrate its improved adaptive capability and similar performance compared to other error resilience coding scheme. |
