Title
Proposal of selection method test pictures in HDTV subjective quality assessments
Abstract
This paper describes definitive and systematic rules for selecting HDTV still test pictures to be used for properly assessing high-quality factors. We extracted three elementary psychological factors: "vividness," "comfortableness" and "sharpness," dominating the impression of HDTV still pictures, by using `Semantic Differential Method.' And HVC-signal characteristics, in Munsell color space, correlating closely with these factors were defined as selection guidelines of pictures symbolizing high-quality TV.
