A Versatile High Swing Current Mode Instrumentation Amplifier With An Integrated Band-Pass Filter For Bio-Potential Signal Acquisition |
Abstract | ||

A novel ultra low power, area-efficient, current-mode instrumentation amplifier (CMIA) with integrated band pass filter, for acquisition of varieties of bio-potential signals is presented. A novel bias front-end is also presented, which achieves CMRR of 195 dB at 1 Hz in the presence of +/- 5% component mismatch. The CMIA has a tunable bandwidth, from 160 Hz to 7.2 kHz with input referred rms noise of 2.24 mu V in frequency band of 5 mHz to 160 Hz. The CMIA is designed in 180 nm mixed-mode CMOS technology and provides high swing output voltage of 1.65 V (p-p) while dissipating 39 mu W, at 1.8 V supply voltage. Proposed CMIA exhibits thermal noise floor of 97 nV/v Hz with only 12 mu W extra power consumption as compared to recently reported CMIA. The output of CMIA doesn't need any further signal conditioning or amplification. |
