Extreme data science is becoming increasingly important at NERSC. Many Petabytes of data are transferred from experimental facilities to NERSC every year. Applications of importance include high energy physics, genomics and climate. Computing and storage systems are being deployed to enable the analysis of these large scientific data sets. This paper discusses recent scientific breakthroughs enabled by extreme data science and future science and technology trends related to data. |
