Panda is middleware designed to bring thebenefits of active networks to applications notwritten with active networks in mind. This paperdescribes the architecture and implementation ofPanda, and provides data on the overheadsincurred and performance benefits achieved.Thepaper also discusses some of the key issues ofautomatically and transparently intercepting datastreams and converting them into active streams, including interception mechanisms, automatedplanning facilities, and allowing user andapplication control of the middleware. |
