Title
Implementation of Security Functions into File Transfer, Access and Management Protocol
Abstract
In the ISO/IEC 8571 standard, File Transfer. Access and Management (FTAM), filestore-password and initiator-identity of the F-INITIALIZE-request Protocol Data Unit are exposed to the lower layers and public networks during the initial association establishment. In the scheme of access control, the file create-password and the eight access-type passwords for read, insert, replace, extend, etc. all face the same problem. To enhance the protective service of authentication and access control in FTAM, a set of security functions were implemented and positioned within the FTAM constructs. The implemented security modules were added to FTAM without modifying the standard.
