The general-purpose data models in use today are well-suited to the management of structured data. However, most of the current data models are often inadequate to handle effective processing of rather complex forms of information. Very often such data models do not provide efficient and suitable data structure types for complex hypermedia objects such as documents containing textual, pictorial, sound and other multimedia components. |
