So what do I mean by one-way cryptography? We were actually given an example here on the projector: this message, "Protected for education use only, if you see this message call the Police." All of the security functions of this are decided on in advance by the people who configured the projector and sent it out into the world, and by the time the receiver of this message sees it, it's too late to change anything about the protocol, there's no interaction involved, the damage is done; everything that you need to do to secure this has to have been done in advance, there's no negotiation. |
