Title
DPA Methods of Smart Cards
Abstract
This paper proposes two Differential Power Analysis (DPA) methods based on Hamming weight under the (+ mod 2(N)) operation of the input data and a secret key when they are operated in the smart cards with 8-bit CPU We use the power leakage model which T S. Messerges introduced and is based on Hamming weights. The (+ mod 2(N)) operation of the input data and a secret key is used in IDEA encryption algorithm. Therefore we can attack the 32 bits of a secret key of IDEA by using the proposed method Experimental results in a smart card confirm the practicality of the DPA attacks and can make us compare two DPA methods.
