Title
Desktop simulation: modeling for managers
Abstract
This article discusses the potential of merging expert systems and simulation to provide a platform for sensitivity analysis by managers. The authors have developed a desktop simulation, a generalized simulation for a class of problem. Creating an interface with an expert system shell, the authors used a front-end to allow for customization of the generalized model to the current parameters. The front-end edits the simulation code; the user may then run the simulation. This iterative approach allows for rapid consideration of a number of prototypes based on various parametes of interest.
